The difference is in how openly we work.
Tickwright's approach to watch repair is built around clarity — clear scope, clear pricing, and a clear result in writing. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Back to HomeSix reasons clients return to Tickwright
Written accuracy report
Multi-position rate figures in writing after every movement service.
Published, fixed pricing
Every service has a stated price. No surprises at collection.
12-month service warranty
Work-related faults are addressed at no charge within a year.
Agreed scope before we start
Nothing additional is done without your knowledge and approval.
Walk-in welcome for small jobs
Spring bars, strap changes, and gaskets — no appointment needed.
Plain-language communication
We explain the work in terms you can follow, without unnecessary jargon.
Trained watchmakers, not general repair technicians
The person servicing your movement trained specifically in horology — not electronics repair or jewelry work that occasionally handles watches on the side. Mechanical calibers require a different knowledge base: understanding gear trains, escapements, mainspring behavior, and the correct lubrication for each contact point. That's the foundation we work from.
We've worked on calibers across the main Swiss and Japanese families. If your watch is unusual or has a complication — a date wheel, a moonphase, a chronograph — we'll tell you upfront whether it falls within what we handle well.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
Your movement is handled by someone who understands it, not someone guessing.
Unusual calibers get an honest assessment, not a confident but vague promise.
You can ask questions and receive real answers, not evasions.
OUR EQUIPMENT
Ultrasonic cleaning tank for parts — removes contamination that hand cleaning misses.
Timing machine for accurate rate measurement in multiple positions.
Case finishing tools that separate brushed and polished surfaces correctly.
The right tools used correctly
A movement service done by hand without proper cleaning equipment leaves contamination between lubricants and surfaces. We use an ultrasonic tank because it works better, not because it looks impressive on a website. The timing machine gives figures that mean something — not a rough guess.
For case work, finishing tools let us treat polished and brushed surfaces separately, which is the only way to restore them without blending finishes that should stay distinct.
Communication that respects your time
We tell you the timeline honestly. If a part needs to be sourced and that adds a week, you'll hear about it before you've made plans to collect. Updates are given when there's something worth saying, not as a formality.
Questions are answered by the people doing the work — not routed through a customer service desk that doesn't know your watch. If you want to know what we found during the inspection, ask at drop-off and we'll walk you through it.
HOW WE KEEP YOU INFORMED
Realistic timelines given at intake, updated if anything changes.
Inspection notes shared with you before work begins.
Written accuracy report included with every movement service at handover.
PUBLISHED SERVICE PRICES
Prices that don't change after the fact
The service prices listed on this site are the prices on your invoice. We don't estimate low and adjust at handover. If your watch has a complication that changes the scope of a movement service, we'll discuss that with you upfront — not after.
A mechanical watch serviced properly at the right intervals costs less over a lifetime than one that's neglected until something breaks. The prices above reflect that view — skilled work, fairly charged.
Results you can read and verify
The accuracy report we produce after a movement service shows the rate in seconds per day across six positions. You can see for yourself what the watch is doing, compare it to manufacturer specification, and use it as a baseline for future services.
This is the opposite of trusting us on our word. The figures are there. If something isn't performing as it should within the warranty period, you have documented evidence and a clear path to bring it back.
YOUR ACCURACY REPORT INCLUDES
Rate measurement in 6 standard positions (dial up/down, crown positions)
Seconds per day figure for each position
Date of service and warranty expiry date
Watch identification (make, model, reference where known)
Typical repair shops vs. Tickwright
Typical repair shops
Pricing given verbally and sometimes revised at collection
No documentation of what was done to the movement
Accuracy described in general terms ("running well") with no figures
Warranty period unclear or not offered
Case finish may be altered without notice or consent
Tickwright
Fixed published prices — the invoice matches what was stated at intake
Written service record provided with every movement job
Multi-position accuracy report with actual rate figures at handover
12-month warranty on movement servicing, terms clearly stated
Case finish preserved according to original specification; changes agreed first
Things you won't find everywhere
The accuracy report is standard, not an add-on
Every movement service includes a multi-position accuracy report at no additional cost. The test is built into the service, not sold separately. You see the numbers; you keep the paper.
English-speaking throughout
Phuket draws a large international community. Our team communicates in English without difficulty, which matters when you want to discuss something specific about your watch or understand what was found at inspection.
Walk-in access for quick work
Spring bar replacements and gasket swaps don't need a booked appointment. Stop in, we'll handle it. This kind of access is genuinely useful if you're visiting Phuket and want something sorted before you leave.
No scope creep, ever
We don't add work to your service without asking. If we open a movement and notice something worth addressing, we call you. We don't handle it and charge you for it at collection.
